Extraditions

Extradition is a complex procedure that involves cooperation between States to surrender an individual sought by another State to stand trial or to serve a sentence. In Mexico, extradition is governed by international treaties and rigorous legal procedures, under which the Mexican State must ensure respect for the requested person’s human rights.

At Justicia Transparente, we have successfully represented individuals subject to both passive extradition (when another country asks Mexico to surrender someone) and active extradition (when Mexico seeks the surrender of an individual abroad). We conduct a meticulous analysis of the applicable treaties, the legal basis for the request, and any potential rights violations. Our defense strategy seeks to prevent unjust extraditions, challenge irregular proceedings, or negotiate favorable legal conditions for the requested person. We also advise family members so they understand the process and know how to respond in the event of an arrest for extradition purposes.

We have specialized counsel and a proven record of results in these matters.
